About TECTAS

TECTAS is a behavioural intent scoring platform for online retailers. We provide a JavaScript tracking snippet that online businesses install on their websites. Once installed, our platform collects behavioural signals from the visitors to those websites, generates an intent score, and enables the business to send personalised offers to buyers at the moment of peak intent.

TECTAS is operated as a sole trader business based in the United Kingdom. We intend to incorporate as TECTAS Ltd once trading commences. Our website is located at tectas.co.uk and our contact email is privacy@tectas.co.uk.

This Privacy Policy applies to:

  • Visitors to the TECTAS website (tectas.co.uk)
  • Businesses and individuals who sign up for and use the TECTAS platform (our “Clients”)
  • End-users (buyers) who visit websites that have the TECTAS snippet installed (“Client Sites”)

Each of these three groups is addressed separately below, because the data we handle for each is different in nature and purpose.

Platform usage data

We may collect technical and usage data related to how you use the TECTAS dashboard, such as login timestamps, feature interactions, and performance metrics. This is used to maintain and improve the platform. You may request deletion of your TECTAS account at any time by contacting us at privacy@tectas.co.uk. Following account deletion, we will permanently delete your personal data within 30 calendar days, except where retention is required to meet legal or accounting obligations.

4.

Buyers on Client Sites

Important: When a buyer visits a website that has the TECTAS snippet installed, the privacy policy of that website applies to the buyer — not this policy. TECTAS processes buyer data strictly on behalf of, and under the instruction of, the business that owns that website.

This section explains what TECTAS collects and does with that data in its role as a service provider to online businesses.

What we collect

When the TECTAS snippet is active on a Client Site, we collect the following signals from buyers:

  • Hover time on product pages
  • Scroll depth on product pages
  • Repeat visit frequency
  • Email address, where a buyer enters it into an input field on the Client Site (for example, a newsletter sign-up or checkout field)

These signals are used to generate a proprietary intent score (from 1–99) for each buyer on each product. The intent score and the buyer’s email address are used by the TECTAS platform to enable the Client to send personalised offers through our email delivery partner.

How we use this data

Buyer data collected via Client Sites is used only for the following purposes:

  • Calculating and updating the buyer’s intent score
  • Triggering and delivering personalised offers on behalf of the Client
  • Maintaining session records necessary for accurate scoring
  • Monitoring and improving the performance and reliability of the TECTAS platform

TECTAS does not use buyer data for its own marketing purposes, does not sell buyer data to any third party, and does not combine buyer data across unrelated Client Sites.

Consent and opt-out

The TECTAS snippet includes built-in consent management functions. Data collection from a buyer only occurs if consent has been granted in accordance with the Client Site’s cookie or consent mechanism. Buyers can withdraw consent at any time through the relevant Client Site’s privacy or cookie settings.

Data retention

Buyer signal data and intent scores are retained for as long as necessary to provide the TECTAS service to the relevant Client. Our automated data retention process removes buyer records on a rolling basis in line with our standard retention schedule. Clients may also request deletion of their buyers’ data at any time.

Requests from buyers

If you are a buyer on a Client Site and wish to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, please contact the business that operates that website directly. TECTAS cannot respond directly to data requests from buyers on Client Sites, as we do not control how those businesses collect or use data. We will, however, cooperate fully with any such request passed to us by a Client.

5.

Sub-Processors and Third-Party Services

TECTAS uses a small number of trusted third-party service providers to operate the platform. These providers process data only on our instructions and are subject to strict confidentiality obligations. Our current sub-processors are:

  • Supabase — database and back-end infrastructure (data stored on AWS infrastructure in the EU)
  • Resend — transactional email delivery (used to send personalised offers to buyers on behalf of Clients)
  • Vercel — hosting and deployment of the TECTAS platform

We may update our sub-processors from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in an updated version of this Privacy Policy.

6.

Security

We take the security of personal data seriously. All data stored by TECTAS is protected with row-level security controls. Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel only. We transmit data over encrypted connections and do not store plaintext credentials. Buyer IP addresses collected for platform performance purposes are automatically deleted within 30 calendar days.

7.

International Data Transfers

TECTAS is based in the United Kingdom. Some of our sub-processors operate infrastructure outside the UK. Where data is transferred internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place. Our primary database infrastructure (Supabase) is hosted on AWS within the EU.

8.

Children

The TECTAS platform is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child’s data has been collected through our platform, please contact us at privacy@tectas.co.uk and we will take prompt steps to investigate and delete it.

9.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify our Clients by email. Continued use of the TECTAS platform following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
